Eric Andersen
I grew up on Long Island, New York. Grew up with a lot of kids my age, and lots of great memories. I was fascinated about music as a young teenager. It all started when crazy Steven brought in his electric guitar! I remember just being in awe of what he played on that thing, and the band that played at the church dance in eighth grade? It was just explosive! It's been a long process of continual influence by any guitarists-Dickie Betts (Allman Bros), Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck. Jeff, being my favorite. He's just very tasty on what he plays. Funny, how God put that fascination of music in me at an early age! But, little do we see that HE has a plan for ALL of us- we just don't see it in those early years.
Next chapter, I moved to Colorado. That is another miracle. Por Que? Because I simply said a simple wishful prayer while I was in Colorado for the first time on vacation- my first vacation. Little did I know God's plan for me was to actually live in Colo! So, fast forward 7 years. Got married. helped to raise our family. But raising a family is very challenging and extremely difficult at times. So, at that point there was little time to put into music. However, I did start my true journey with God in 1982! What did I do first? I dove right back into music and joined the church P+W team at Faith Ministries. Dear Lord, what a time to jump in! The pastor at the time was Dave Duell-later to be internationally known by thousands. There were a LOT of miracles happening (literally). People use the word awesome a little too much these days. This period of time was truly awesome. There was a true excitement and energy at every church service. You really wanted to get there early always! For some strange reason, I was meant to be, and therefore became and elementary music teacher in the public schools. Boy, the nuns would have lost BIG time on that bet! What I mean is that out of about 75 - 8th grade students, I would have been most probably voted least likely to become a teacher! Go figure! One of the great paradoxes of my life! Okay, let’s move on....
Before you know it, I was an elementary music teacher in the public schools for many years. What a super fun gig! I still feel so very blessed to STILL be working with young students, teachers, and to be in the wonderful "circle of music" with so many great friends that are so talented. Somewhere in there I started writing music for church and for school.
Although I've played in many secular bands and did tons of solo gigs (what a blast!) I also served on several Praise and Worship teams. I've had many amazing experiences in worship, and I now feel very strongly to go back to my roots, the Lord. I believe my strong calling has always been writing songs of encouragement, songs of healing, and worship songs for the church and the Lord. The song, "Lead Me To Your House" was gifted to me several years ago. I've had the honor of sharing that song many times and now, finally getting it out there to share. I hope you are blessed by that song and others I've written. Praise HIS name! My favorite scripture is below!
"O LORD, the king rejoices in your strength. How great is his joy in the victories you give! You welcomed him with rich blessings and placed a crown of pure gold on his head. He asked you for life, and you gave it to him-- length of days, for ever and ever."
Psalms 21:1
